And women are more conscious of their body than men. That is more reason they always want to find solution to their skin problems. Today, there are so many stretch marks removal products in the market. All of them claim to remove stretch marks. Whether effective or not, you can never know untill you try them. A high percentage of them cannot remove or get rid of stretch marks as claimed. The question now arises; Can stretch marks be treated? If yes, what are the treatment options?

Most stretch marks treatments can only make the marks fade but cannot completely remove them. To hide their appearance, cosmetic camouflage (make-ups) can be used, although they do so temporarily.

Medical treatments for stretch marks are available. Laser therapy is one of such. Laser therapy have been effective for some people. They have successfully made the marks fade. Laser treatment involves the use of ultraviolet light to induce or stimulate the growth of elastin and collagen in the skin. Laser treatment can be done on any parts of the body irrespective of the cause of the stretch marks . The treatment is not skin selective so you don't need to worry about your skin type. Unlike other stretch marks treatments such as creams and ointment, the duration of laser therapy is short. It doesn't take time, treatment may begin and end within half an hour. Although this depend on the size and affected area.

Cosmetic surgery is another treatment option for stretch marks . It involves removal of excess fats and skin from the affected area. This kind of surgery is mainly done on the abdomen (tummy). Cosmetic surgery for stretch marks has it own risks. They can cause
skin scarring.

Laser and cosmetic surgery are expensive. Laser treatments could cost around $450-$1000 while cosmetic surgery could cause around $4000- $20000. Since these treatments are effective and yet expensive, does it mean there are no other ways of reducing the appearance of stretch marks? At this point nature comes to the rescue! Some people have been able to reduce the appearance of stretch marks by using natural methods.

Below are some natural methods to
treat stretch marks
  • Potato juice: Cut potato into slices and rub it gently on the affected area for some minutes. Allow the juice to soak on the skin. Leave it to dry. After a while, wash off with lukewarm water.

  • Egg white Break an egg: Separate the yolk from the egg white. Egg white is that clear liquid. Apply on the affected area. Leave to dry and wash off after 30 minutes.
  • Sugar Mix one tablespoon of sugar with almond oil and add few drops of lemon juice. Mix thoroughly and rub gently on the affected area for about 10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.
